THE BEST BLACK METAL ALBUMS OF 2022



I decided to do this post in a lazy way. I used the app everybody is using these days in order to make the collage and the list respectively. Honestly, I didn't have the intention to publish any list - neither BM/DM, nor AOTY.  I have always stated - in general, it's been a mediocre year for my beloved music, with few releases that really have the staying power. Therefore it is not easy to pick equally good/bad albums...

As usual, I'm listing the albums that I enjoyed the most and that I listened to the most in this already-gone year. Most of the releases were part of my monthly tops throughout 2022 on this blog. 

Remember, the list is not in a particular order, however, I have a softer spot for some of the releases than for others.

Listing my favorite BM albums wasn't an easy task for another reason - the mixing of the genres these days. I tried to put in this list BM albums that are closest to the understanding of the genre, so names like White Ward, D666, Goatwhore, Sisyphean, Belphegor, Behemoth, Nihilvm, etc., are not present in this list. And as usual, I feel I missed albums in this list that deserved to be there. It is what it is. I'm sure you, my dear reader, will remind me about the omissions. 

I believe it's a pretty enjoyable list overall. Enjoy!

  It is again that time of the year when we reflect back and prepare the AOTY lists. As usual, I have a Black Metal Top List, Death Metal Top List, and AOTY List of course. And here we go! MY TOP 20 OF JANUARY 2024

The new year started with a kick in the ass. It's like 2023 never existed or everything merges in one big whole. The time is merciless. It is already the end of January and it is that time again when I usually post my favorite new releases of the respective month. January'24 could have been more inspiring, or after THAT 2023, now everything seems weaker? I do believe a lot of the below-listed albums are going to drown and I won't return much to them in the year. Still, few are going to be on my AOTY list.  What else? We have to be very grateful that in 2024 we have Saxon at full speed and they are releasing this good album. Naturally, it is my album of the month, closely followed by some very good UG releases. MY TOP 50 DEATH METAL ALBUMS OF 2024

I already published  MY TOP 50 BLACK METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 , so here comes the DEATH METAL of 2024! Death Metal did OK in 2024, with some really impressive releases! Now I take the opportunity to present what I listened to the most, what made me the best impression, and what I spent most time with during this already gone worthless year.  After careful consideration, ULCERATE's cutting throats album took the highest spot. The severe competition came from Absolute Elsewhere which is super close behind. I'll keep on listening to these two in the future. And not only that. The whole list consists of very good albums that have the potential to stay a bit longer than usual. Let's see.
