MY TOP 15 FOR MAY 2019

Another month with tons of new releases. Literally. I found some enjoyable and some not that much, but at a certain point I felt myself lost. Below 15 (+1 bonus), represent the full-length albums I enjoyed the most out of the huge pile I managed to listen (somehow) properly. Few others just coudn't make it... As usual, many left under-listened or just sampled. That's why you will not see some of your favourites here. And yeah, don't expect Amon Amarth below too.

My honorable mentions must go to: Bethlehem, Bewitcher, Kampfar, Deus Mortem, Saturnus Terrorism (thanks, Apollo!), Funeral Storm, Sühnopfer, Nocturnus AD, Duel, Allagash and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

There's neither Deathspell Omega nor Monasterium, nor... whatever in the list. Haunt's new album was kind of disappointment for me, and I stated it in my review for Blessed Altar Zine. Although it can get into any list easily. And yes, I didn't give a listen to the new Origin, which is pity.

On top, I found out some great EPs/demos to be released in May: Kalmo, Necrosexual, Ossuary, Délétère, Concilivm re-release.

And in the end always comes the question - how many of these will appear in my 2019 AOTY list?

IDLE HANDS - Mana
Release Date: 10 May 2019

The album of the month! Probably of the year for me so far. This is so enjoyable, with these goth/post punk 80's vocals and heavy melodies...
POSSESSED - Revelations of Oblivion
Release Date: 10 May 2019

After 30+ years to return with such an album! It is so solid, like these guys never stopped playing but just got better and better.
SAINT VITUS - Saint Vitus
Release Date: 17 May 2019

I didn't expected to like so much this one. With original line-up the doom masters simply deliver great album (on contrary to some other classic doom bands...)
MISTHYRMING - Algleymi
Release Date: 24 May 2019

There is some albums which just grabs you instantly. This one by the Icelandic BM band is such.
GAAHLS WYRD - Gastir - Ghosts Invited
Release Date: 24 May 2019

Oh, Gaahl created delivered a great dark atmosphere in order to gather all the ghosts...Sick album in which the listener drowns in, but there's no coming back...
ESOCTRILIHUM - The Telluric Ashes of the Ö Vrth Immemorial Gods
Release Date: 24 May 2019

Suffocating in order to be a cleansing. Occult, dark, mystic, only like Esoctrilihum can be. No place for experiments, just pure musical experience for the soul.
RIOT CITY - Burn The Night
Release Date: 17 May 2019

Every month one or two traditional heavy albums seem to appear in my list. No exception in May. I found these Canadians very good, with so much 80s nostagia.

OCTOBER TIDE - In Splendor Below
Release Date: 17 May 2019

Hypnotising melodic black death doom. So FKN GOOD!!!
SPIRIT ADRIFT - Divided By Darkness
Release Date: 10 May 2019

Top notch doom, but you already know this

БАТЮШКА - Панахида
Release Date: 26 May 2019

Real vs Fake. This was the spring soap opera in the BM world. At the end the Real delivered "Панахида" and proved who's wrong, who's right and who's the mastermind. Lacking of all-over liturgical parts (and thanks God), the album is very good.

SOL SISTERE - Extinguished Cold Light
Release Date: 3 May 2019

It was a grower. That's why it is here. Very good BM.

RAMMSTEIN - Rammstein
Release Date: 10 May 2019

What? You didn't expected it? It's always good to have a Rammstein meal on the table.

DARKTHRONE - Old Star
Release date: 31 May 2019

Listened enough for one day in order to include it in this list! You all know...

DEATH ANGEL - Humanicide
Release Date: 31 May 2019

DA are like the wine. With the age it gets better. Humanicide conutinues the line of The Evil Divide, and tops up with it's unmistakable DA energy and riffs.

KRYPTS - Cadaver Circulation
Release Date: 31 May 2019

Suffocating, crushing, heavy! Just in the alley of some favourite Portland acts, but coming from Finland. Highly recommended.

BONUS TRACK

WHITESNAKE - Flesh & Blood
Release Date: 10 May 2019

I'll always love Whitesnake!...
