MY TOP LIST OF JUNE 2024

Half of 2024 is gone! It is flooded with new releases and they just keep coming. Quality? Well, this is the tricky part... We listen and listen, trying to catch up with everything worthy, but then the worthiness criteria are getting lower and lower. The praise for mediocre albums is wild nowadays, to be honest. 

June was a good month overall. One album clearly stood over the rest though. One album that destroys everything and will be very high on my AOTY list.

One album that I'll keep on listening to in the future. Cutting The Throat of God is the indisputable Album of the month - a true masterpiece that will stand the test of time in the next years.  

Re-reading the list below, I realized it is a huge mishmash of styles, which bothers me. Anyway, I liked the below 25 albums. Of course, you will say that I missed this or that, but when I prepared the list, this is how I felt it. My notes include too many albums to shortlist. Tomorrow might be different for some of the choices below or the ones I didn't include (Portrait for example). How many I'll forget? I don't know. And one more thing - naturally, Cavalera's Schizophrenia is also here but below the line as it is not a new record, right?.

MY TOP 20 OF JANUARY 2024

The new year started with a kick in the ass. It's like 2023 never existed or everything merges in one big whole. The time is merciless. It is already the end of January and it is that time again when I usually post my favorite new releases of the respective month. January'24 could have been more inspiring, or after THAT 2023, now everything seems weaker? I do believe a lot of the below-listed albums are going to drown and I won't return much to them in the year. Still, few are going to be on my AOTY list.  What else? We have to be very grateful that in 2024 we have Saxon at full speed and they are releasing this good album. Naturally, it is my album of the month, closely followed by some very good UG releases.
