MY TOP 25 FOR FEBRUARY 2023
Starting this post while listening to Into Glory Ride by Manowar. After a whole day spent with Tryglav's new album.
With hands high fists fill the air
Against the world we stand."
Hell yeah, when the metal was true and the lyrics really mean something, based on real experiences, hopes and events... Nostalgia aside, I miss the old times. Starting this way my post because my beloved music and its fanbase changed a lot.
It lost that special feeling that defined it in its roots - rebellion.
Usually, February has proved to be a very solid month and this present February of 2023 is not an exception. Besides the tons of brand-new albums that went out this month and will be forgotten forever, there are some AOTY contenders.
I realize that I'm becoming pickier and pickier, not liking what's been out nowadays and keep on ranting about the unnecessary quantities and low qualities. This reflects in listening to even more klassiks than in previous years. Therefore I'm spending more time with (more) meaningful music, right? However, the below list doesn't necessary show this, because I extended it to 25 albums that I enjoyed the most in the already gone month. I'm surprised by myself about some of the selected albums, but it is what it is. As usual in (almost) no particular order.
A few days later when I'm finishing my post I still think about the true metal music that was released decades ago in comparison to the tons of metal music released now. And the people who listened to it before, the ways they were discovering it and owning it. What about now? It is different, it is all about showing off, so many posers, thinking they know it all... Metal has never been inclusive, or positive, it's all about the rebellious ones, the wronged ones, the ones who need to feel...
whimps and posers leave the hall"
But, maybe you needed to be offended
But here's my apology and one more thing...Fuck you!"
