MY TOP 20 FOR NOVEMBER 2022

Basically, it is my last monthly top list for 2022. Next, it would be the AOTY list, if there is any need for such a list anymore. Do we need an AOTY list when almost everything is fast food? For me 2022 was NOT a good year for my beloved music but rather mediocre. Too many albums were released with very arguable quality and staying power close to none.

I must admit that I have to go through this blog too often in order to recall what's been out there that I liked in the respective month. 


As usual this list features all the releases from the respective month that I liked the most. This does not necessarily mean that the ones are not presented might not impact me in the future.  My notes include a lot of albums that didn't make the cut but were potential candidates. I had to limit the list to twenty at the end of the day. I'm almost sure that few will stay in the future with me though. 

Many of my dearest readers will say that for example High Command, Detherous, Lamentations, Tchornobog/Abyssal, Dysgnostic or Elder are missing. Yes, these might siddenly click more solidly and off we go, you know how it is. My album of the month? Drudkh was followed super closely by Djevel. Or vice versa? Both are huge for the black metal in 2022! Mind you that I still haven't listened to the new Förgjord and that's why I can't judge.

  It is again that time of the year when we reflect back and prepare the AOTY lists. As usual, I have a Black Metal Top List, Death Metal Top List, and AOTY List of course. And here we go! MY TOP 20 OF JANUARY 2024

The new year started with a kick in the ass. It's like 2023 never existed or everything merges in one big whole. The time is merciless. It is already the end of January and it is that time again when I usually post my favorite new releases of the respective month. January'24 could have been more inspiring, or after THAT 2023, now everything seems weaker? I do believe a lot of the below-listed albums are going to drown and I won't return much to them in the year. Still, few are going to be on my AOTY list.  What else? We have to be very grateful that in 2024 we have Saxon at full speed and they are releasing this good album. Naturally, it is my album of the month, closely followed by some very good UG releases. MY TOP 50 DEATH METAL ALBUMS OF 2024

I already published  MY TOP 50 BLACK METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 , so here comes the DEATH METAL of 2024! Death Metal did OK in 2024, with some really impressive releases! Now I take the opportunity to present what I listened to the most, what made me the best impression, and what I spent most time with during this already gone worthless year.  After careful consideration, ULCERATE's cutting throats album took the highest spot. The severe competition came from Absolute Elsewhere which is super close behind. I'll keep on listening to these two in the future. And not only that. The whole list consists of very good albums that have the potential to stay a bit longer than usual. Let's see.
