MY TOP LIST OF AUGUST 2023

August 2023 was a strange month. It started slowly as a typical vacation period, with very few good new albums and then ended stacked up with some serious AOTY candidates. My selection below features 22 releases that I liked quite a lot.

Honestly, I am still hesitant about which one is my album of the month as Spirit Adrift, Crypta and Blood Abscision deliver absolutely great stuff.  The rest are listed in (almost) no particular order as always. Of course, there are albums that stand out more than others - Grand Cadaver, Orphalis, Blood Aus Nord (if you are in a mood), Horrendous. And what about Milking the Goatmachine and...all the others actually! Once again U.D.O. made it to my lists, releasing another heavy metal album by template but yet enjoyable. And we witnessed the last Urfaust album...

So yeah, another month gone, another monthly list done. If you haven't checked even one of the below choices, I highly recommend you to do so.

  It is again that time of the year when we reflect back and prepare the AOTY lists. As usual, I have a Black Metal Top List, Death Metal Top List, and AOTY List of course. And here we go! Here's MY TOP 50 BLACK METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 list - the black metal albums I liked the most, made the best impression, and spent the most time with. MY TOP 20 OF JANUARY 2024

The new year started with a kick in the ass. It's like 2023 never existed or everything merges in one big whole. The time is merciless. It is already the end of January and it is that time again when I usually post my favorite new releases of the respective month. January'24 could have been more inspiring, or after THAT 2023, now everything seems weaker? I do believe a lot of the below-listed albums are going to drown and I won't return much to them in the year. Still, few are going to be on my AOTY list.  What else? We have to be very grateful that in 2024 we have Saxon at full speed and they are releasing this good album. Naturally, it is my album of the month, closely followed by some very good UG releases. MY TOP 50 DEATH METAL ALBUMS OF 2024

I already published  MY TOP 50 BLACK METAL ALBUMS OF 2024 , so here comes the DEATH METAL of 2024! Death Metal did OK in 2024, with some really impressive releases! Now I take the opportunity to present what I listened to the most, what made me the best impression, and what I spent most time with during this already gone worthless year.  After careful consideration, ULCERATE's cutting throats album took the highest spot. The severe competition came from Absolute Elsewhere which is super close behind. I'll keep on listening to these two in the future. And not only that. The whole list consists of very good albums that have the potential to stay a bit longer than usual. Let's see.
