Happy New Year and welcome in 2021. May it be better than the last year for every one of us. As long as the metal releases are concerned, 2020 was a tremendous year, but we already know this.
Now let's get back in time. Today's publication is about proving that time flies, we get old, and the music is forever. In 1991 were released some of the most important albums in the history of metal. In 2021 they turn 30. Damn it! 30 years are quite a long time, ffs! Maybe I should do a similar list of important albums that turn 40 too?...
Let me list (in no order) some of those albums, that are considered as klassiks. The albums that changed the direction of the music, defined the bands' careers, and are still among the most played ones. The albums that are still important for me. I'm sure that everybody knows all the albums and mentions below. Let's remember together the good old times with my top picks that turn 30 in 2021.
METALLICA - Metallica
GUNS'N'ROSES - Use Your Illusion I & II
PESTILENCE - Testimony of the Ancients
MORBID ANGEL - Blessed Are the Sick
DISMEMBER - Like An Ever Flowing Stream
CANNIBAL CORPSE - Butchered At Birth
CANCER - Death Shall Rise
BOLT THROWER - War Master
BENEDICTION - The Grand Leveller
CARCASS - Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious PUNGENT STENCH - Been Caught Buttering
CATHEDRAL - Forest of Equilibrium
RUMBLE MILITIA - Stop Violence and Madness
UNLEASHED - Where No Life Dwells
DARKTHRONE - Soulside Journey
ATHEIST - Unquestionable Presence RUNNING WILD - Blazon Stone
NUCLEAR ASSAULT - Out of Order
Here I must definitely mention another two albums that I do love but don't fit the criteria above, and I listened a lot back in the day. Both of huge importance to me. Anthrax - Attack of the Killed B's, and Ramones - Loco live. Both awesome, both still in rotation today.
Of course, many other albums could be added to the list. Let just not forget about the classics released by Type O Negative, Suffocation, Master, Dark Angel, Metal Church, Gorguts, Revenant, Ignorance, Re-Animator, Devastation, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Skid Row and even Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Queen.
