MY TOP 15 FOR JULY 2020

July's gone. Another pile of music. Another list is done. The world saw some very good releases in July, some of them requiring time, attention and dedication. I turned 42.


REBEL WIZARD - Magical Mystical Indifference
Release Date: 10 July

Grabbed me instantly with its unique mix of melodies and black metal. And mesmerizing lead work. My album of the month. 


SKELETON - SKELETON
Release Date: 10 July

A grower. The more I listened, the more I drowned in this hellish mix of obscure black and death metal. 
HAVUKRUUNU - Uinuos Syömen Sota
Release Date: 17 July

Another glorious release by the Finns. Creating a unique atmosphere, the album transcends into the vast landscapes with forests, lakes and moors deep in the Finnish wild..
GAEREA - Limbo
Release Date: 24 July

A superb album by the Portuguese guys. Great production and captivating black metal tracks with a taste of death and unknown. No limbo rock here at all. 
IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT - Alphaville
Release Date: 31 July

If you don't let yourself to this album, you will not be able to get into it. Let your brain be melted down.
KATALEPSY - Terra Mortuus Est
Release Date: 31 July

Brutal and heavy, with soul and a groove. Katalepsy just delivered their best album.

ASCENDENCY - Birth of an Eternal Empire EP
Release Date: 17 July 

This EP got better and better with every listen. Obscure Danish black/death metal from the darkest crypts.
BEDSORE - Hypnagogic Hallucinations
Release Date: 24 July

Oh man, this is hallucinative death metal indeed. Painful and cutting. 



KHTHONIIK CERVIIKS - Æequiizoiikum
Release Date: 17 July 

Sick. Technical. Devastating. It definitely requires time and attention. 

LAETITIA IN HOLOCAUST - Heritage
Release Date: 10 July

Another superb release by the Italians. I like this guys since their 2019 album. Black metal with fretless bass.




DEADLIGHT SANCTUARY - Thaumaturgical Rites of the Damned EP
Release Date: 24 July

The underground at its best. Dark, suffocating, desperate. Mouth full of soil...
SUNKEN - From Slow Sleep Like Death
Release Date: 10 July

Doom death from Finland. Enough said.
AHTME - Mephitic
Release Date: 24 July

Another brutal death metal release with a technical twist in my list. I'm into this shit a lot in 2020.
HIGH SPIRITS - Hard To Stop
Release Date: 31 July

The mandatory heavy metal album in my lists. Such a pleasure and nostalgia...
SPIRIT POSSESSION - S/T
Release Date: 24 July

It is always a great pleasure to listen to this kind of BM with solid roots in the first wave of black metal. 
DRAGHKAR - At The Crossroads of Infinity
Release Date: 27 July

If you count, this is the sixteenth album in this list. I decided to include it here and not in the honorable mentions below. With a reason. Go ahead, listen to it.
