MY TOP 15 FOR JUNE 2020

June 2020 was NOT a month to remember. (Again?) Most of the time I couldn't find an album to impact me and to move me. Besides, I was listening to older stuff too. Indeed, very few records released in the present month grabbed solidly my attention. VAMPIRE was the natural winner. It is an album I'm going to listen to in the future too and it is a definite AOTY contender. As per my other choices - they are all very solid albums too, belonging mostly to the vast Underground. What will stay with time I can't tell at the present stage.

With my June list, I present 15 albums + 5 honorable mentions (don't miss them by any means!). I think this is the best we can get out of this month.

So here it is - my top list for June. With one definite winner and the rest - in no particular order.

VAMPIRE - Rex
Release Date: 19 June

My album of the month. A big step forward since With Primeval Force. It is like Deceased... and D666 meets Tribulation and Mercyful Fate. But so much better!!!

FÖRGJORD - Laulu Kuolemasta
Release Date: 26 June

Internationally released in June, otherwise available since April, the album is the second part of band's 2017-2019 recording session. Rawer and colder than last year's Ilmestykset, Laulu Kuolemasta is a concept album praising the death.
PAYSAGE d'HIVER - Im Wald
Release Date: 26 June

Two hours of cold black metal. Now the production is polished and we can actually hear a lot...
INEXORUM - Moonlit Navigation
Release Date: 26 June

Superb album. Dense unique atmosphere, emotional melodies and riffs. This album deserves the time to peel off everything it offers...I loved it since first listen and kept on exploring...

The shipping cost for this vinyl was 89 EUR from States. So sorry, Inexorum...

CRO-MAGS - In The Beginning
Release Date: 19 June

The best hardcore I have heard for ages. Clear Rocky George influences. Full of power and energy.
SEROCS - Vore EP
Release Date: 26 June

Five new tracks and two more recorded in 2011 as demos. Vore is brutal and intense shit, and it shows a step forward from their Phobos record. The production is very good too, so it definitely helps for the success of this EP.
FLESHVESSEL - Bile of Man Reborn
Release Date: 26 June

One track, 24 minutes! Offering everything - black, death, experimental. It wants you to drown in and lose yourself!

DIABOLIC OATH - Profane Death Exodus
Release Date: 26 June

Extremely heavy, murky, diabolic, dissonant...it is an audible experience not for everybody. But there's no turning back once you get into it. Sick stuff!
END - Splinters From an Ever-Changing Face
Release Date: 5 June

Another extremely heavy and brutal hardcore album. Great for workout or to steam off.

RINGARË - Sorrow Befell
Release Date: 15 June

I love Ringarë since last year when their 2019 album entered in my March monthly list. Now again. This is a record released as a demo album, but the atmosphere is astonishing again.

FELLWARDEN - Wreathed in Mourncloud
Release Date: 26 June

The Watcher (Fen, De Arma...) as the main man here along with Havenless (Fen). Atmospheric Black Metal with folk influences. I actually liked this album so much more than Fen works.
AVERSIO HUMANITATIS - Behold The Silent Dwellers
Release Date: 17 June

Spain has some great brutal gem bands, which offer a unique experience. Aversio Humanitatis gets onto this list with the abyssal swirling psychedelia filled with cold and blurred visions of unbearable lost future.
ACHERONTAS - Psychic Death: The Shattering of Perceptions
Release Date: 26 June

The new absolute masterpiece by the Greek black metal legends. Don't expect to hear the warm touches of the Hellenic black metal...Psychic Death obsesses and then just slays!
MAGICK TOUCH - Heads Have Got To Rock'n'Roll
Release Date: 26 June

The only heavy metal album on the list. It is the third record by the Norwegians and I'm fully enjoying it. Very accessible, great fun, with a bow to the biggest names in the genre of the end of 70's/beginning of the 80s. Nostalgia, so much nostalgia! It makes me feel so good!
SERMENT - Chante, Ô Flamme de la Liberté
Release Date: 17 June

It is the side project of Moribond (Forteresse, Ephemer). It is an exquisite Quebec BM.

The honorable mentions can go to: SINIRA, EXOCRINE, BLIGHT, LONG DISTANCE CALLING and DESCEND.

Enjoy the good music!
