MY TOP 20 OF JUNE 2025

I managed to gather 20 albums from the mediocre June 2025 in this present list! Definitely GRUESOME delivered the album of the month with their brand new Silent Echoes! Absolute Death's Human worship, and here we go - it is deservedly on top. Definitely an AOTY candidate too. Katatonia's brand new album hit me, so it goes second. I couldn't listen to everything that was released, but looking at the schedule, I didn't have the will to do so.

Nothing much to add as a context, I wrote a sentence with my thoughts next to each album below. Definitely taking Gruesome and few more with me in the next months. Here's my top 20 of June 2025 releases, more or less in a particular order. You all know that it is always subject to change depending on the mood and the circumstances. Let's move on, and thanks for reading!

Gruesome - Silent Echoes (Bandcamp) Death's Human worship with a lot of Spiritual Healing taste and pinch of Leprosy. What else could be my No.1 for the month?!
Katatonia - Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State (Bandcamp) Despite Anders' leaving, Nightmares is very good, deep and emotional. In fact, less proggy than their couple of previous records...
Patristic - Catechesis (Bandcamp) Speaking of nightmares, this is nightmarish blackened death, chaotic and heavy af!
Thanatorean - Ekstasis of Subterranean Currents (Bandcamp) Heavier and more suffocating than Patristic's Catechesis
Imha Tarikat - Confessing Darkness (Bandcamp). Always loved the guys. This is definitely a step forward and development for the band.
Gaahls WYRD - Braiding the Stories (Bandcamp) Close and personal, living in its own world of dreams and melancholy.
Nightbearer - Defiance (Bandcamp) Melodeath done right. Too good and way above most of the most acclaimed names in the genre.
Fallujah - Xenotaph (Bandcamp) After the disappointing Empyrean and Undying Light, Xenotaph is just another dimension. Fallujah in momentum!
Helheim - HrabnaR / Ad vesa (Bandcamp) I was caught by surprise. This is Helheim in order and shape, with Viking black metal of meaning and with emotion.
Venus Star - Smokeless Fire (Bandcamp) Hipnotic, hallucinogenic riffs and heavy repetitiveness. Did I say Heavy?
Adversus Semita - Forgangen Helligbrøde (Bandcamp). Norwegian black metal done right.
Drawn and Quartered - Lord of Two Horns (Bandcamp) Heavy, old school and quartering. Death fucking metal!
Lazer Throne - Tomb of the Lunar Oracle (Bandcamp) Atmo BM, cosmic black metal, synth, mesmerizing atmosphere, but just on the edge without going too rainbow...
Putridity - Morbid Ataraxia (Bandcamp) Brutal. Cannibal. Rot.
Obsidian Scapes - Death Chants Echo from Aphotic Void (Bandcamp) Heavy, doomy, riffs, darkness, void and death.
Margantha - Blood Moon Sacrifice (Spotify) Dimmu Borgir Enthrone Darkness Triumphant worship.
Deadguy - Near-Death Travel Services (Bandcamp) One the most proper hardcore albums I have listened to over the past decades.
Lord Belial - Unholy Trinity (Bandcamp). Another good album following Rapture. Expectations met.
A-Z - A2Z² (Bandcamp) Alder and Zonder with another enjoyable heavy metal/rock'n'roll record. I just love Alder vox.
Sodom - The Arsonist (Bandcamp) I put this one here more our of respect. In fact, I don't think I'll remember much of this record.

Not to forget that these were released, although without much impact:
Volbeat - God Of Angels Trust
Cryptopsy - An Insatiable Violence
