MY TOP 15 FOR APRIL 2019


Ok, April was huge. This is already known by all the metal community. Many great releases saw the light during the past month. I was barely keeping it up with checking and listening... Out of the big pile, I list down here the ones I enjoyed the most. That said, I must admit that there were few others which I feel I didn't play enough, or just couldn't make it to the 15. Well, the list is a bit longer. Why? Two EPs are included too. EPs which defined a lot my April - by Hellripper and by Krigere Wolf. This way my top list now consists of 18 releases in total with some bonus... My personal favourite April 2019 releases. You will say I have missed something. For sure I did...

Post-black with great variety. The album consists of so much elements and styles. Fantastic release!
VARGRAV - Reign In Supreme Darkness

The atmospheric BM as I like it the most. So old school, so raw, so underground and so glorious.

Brutal AF. Reminded me of Hate Manifesto in a way and won me over instantly.

STVANNYR - Valley of Shadows

The first full-length by Stvannyr. Superb atmospheric post BM.

LASTER - Het Wassen Oog

Dark and abyssal on it's own. Laster delivered another masterpiece.



WORMWITCH - Heaven That Dwells Within
Release Date: 5 April 2019

 Honestly I didn't expect this album to be so good. It appeared already in many lists for April. I won't be an exception here.




CIRITH GORGOR - Sovereign

 Brutal, fast, with melody and sense. I instantly liked the new album by CG. Very good BM
NECRODEATH - Defragments of Insanity
Release Date: 5 April 2019

 Found it by chance. Veterans from Italy. The thrash done right! Many of the big thrash bands should listen to this release and reconsider their current status...


PROTECTOR - Summon The Hordes
Release Date: 26 April

Another excellent return. Protector show how it must be done. Fight me.


MEPHORASH - Shem Ha Mephorash
Release Date: 18 April

MY TOP LIST OF FEBRUARY 2025

February 2025 was a solid month. I listened to many new albums and the selection below only proves there were good ones. A 30-album selection is not happening very often most recently, especially in times of constant flood of new records (of mediocrity).  I tried to make a split in the selection, and there is a kind of top 20 and then another 10 very special mentions. Anyway, it could all be taken as one whole pile of stuff to be checked for those who haven't yet. COUNT VLAD'S TOP 60 BLACK METAL ALBUMS OF 2025

  <growl turning into shriek, drowning and fading away into the void of lonely frozen stars, lightning through the majesty of the night sky above the mighty black forest>:  BLACK METAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL..... Ahhhh, the black metal list! The genre that polarizes the masses, divides them, and is the most diverse of all genres. 2025 was a good year for black metal. There has been a return to the roots after a few years of rainbow Instagram BM posing recorded in the bedrooms...  Another hectic year for the genre, as well as for music in general (However, I will save this rant for my AOTY list). I could probably include 666 albums easily due to the enormous release schedule, but I shortlisted 94 only from these numerous black metal records released in 2025. Then I selected the final 50. COUNT VLAD'S TOP 50 DEATH METAL ALBUMS OF 2025

  It is that time of the year and I am kicking off with my TOP 50 DEATH METAL ALBUMS OF 2025. It's been quite a flooding year of releases, and some top-notch death metal albums are worthy of talking about. ...And listening on repeat, of course.  The list below could easily include 100 labums, but I drew the line once again, as beyond 50th position, it is all the same. More importantly, the list turned out to be a bit of a mixed bag this time. It is because I listened to some (sexy) melo-death and I put everything in. Without surprises, or surprisingly even for me, Omnium Gatherum's May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way  is at the top position here, followed by some real death metal albums... I know how it looks, but don't throw stones, though. It was a very addictive album, dynamic, with plenty of sing-alongs, without being way too cheesy for me.  So if you can trust someone whose No.1 in a Death Metal AOTY list is Omnium Gatherum, please keep reading.
